BA Wits, BA Psychology(hons)Unisa, B.EdPsychology (cum laude) RAU, M.EdPsychology (cum laude) RAU, MAPS Laura Adno is an experienced psychologist who works with children and young adolescents (ages 5-15 years). Laura graduated (cum laude) with a Masters degree in Educational psychology from RAU in South Africa. She had a successful private practice in Johannesburg specializing in children and young adolescents. Laura emigrated to Australia in January 2006. She is a registered member of the Australian Psychological Society. Children can experience stress, anxiety, sadness, anger and grief which may impact on their academic progress, social interactions and affect their emotional well being. During therapy children learn the skills that equip them to cope with difficult situations and they become happier and more emotionally stable. Laura uses an integrated approach to therapy including, playtherapy, sand tray work, narrative therapy and CBT. Laura deals with issues that include depression, anger, grief, trauma, anxiety, social skills, bullying, phobias, divorce and low self esteem. Parental guidance is an integral part of a child’s therapy and Laura consults with parents on a regular basis. Laura also consults with children and young adolescents that are dealing with OCD and Aspergers and assists the parents in coping. |
